In the UK, a sales development rep (SDR) earns a base salary of around £28,000 to £45,000, or £40,000 to £70,000 on-target earnings, before employer National Insurance, pension, tools and data; Lead Matrix starts at €710 a month excl. VAT, or €8,520 a year, with technology, data and experts included. The two can work side by side; they suit different stages of growth.

What a UK SDR really costs

According to the 2026 UK sales salary guide by recruiter Citrus Connect, SDR and BDR base salaries range from £28,000 to £45,000, with on-target earnings (OTE) of £40,000 to £70,000; London pays a premium of about 15 to 20% on base. PayScale reports a lower average base of £29,462, based on 98 salary profiles.

On top of pay, the employer adds:

  • employer National Insurance: 15% on earnings above £5,000 a year (2026 to 2027 rates, HMRC);
  • workplace pension: at least 3% of qualifying earnings between £6,240 and £50,270 under auto-enrolment;
  • tools and data: a sales engagement platform, contact data, sending domains;
  • recruitment, onboarding and management time.

Illustrative example: an SDR on £50,000 OTE costs about £6,750 in employer NI and at least £1,313 in pension contributions, so roughly £58,000 a year before tools, data, recruitment and management.

Frequently asked questions

Can I combine an SDR and Lead Matrix?

Yes. Lead Matrix can feed your SDR or salespeople with prospects who replied with interest by email, while they focus on calls and meetings.

How many customers do I need to make Lead Matrix pay off?

If one customer brings you more than €8,520 in margin over a year, a single deal won through prospecting covers the Starter plan for 12 months.

Why not just hire a junior SDR on a lower salary?

You can, but a junior SDR still needs tools, data, deliverability know-how and coaching, and usually takes months to become productive. If nobody in-house can provide that coaching, a managed service is often the faster route.
